ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS



To be considered for admission, a student must submit:

  • completed application for admission
  • application fee (non-refundable)
  • official high school transcript
  • SAT or ACT scores
  • letter of recommendation
  • personal statement

A strong and well-balanced program in high school is the best preparation for success in college studies.  A minimum of 16 academic units should be taken.  The School does not specify how these should be distributed, but suggests that the following be included:

  • English,
  • a foreign language,
  • social sciences,
  • a three-year mathematics sequence, and
  • a three-year science sequence

For studio art majors, a portfolio of 14 to 20 pieces is required for scholarship consideration and should be submitted to the chairperson of the Art Department.


International Students

The transcripts of international students are evaluated in accordance with the educational procedures of the native country.  Emphasis is placed on the international student's facility with the English language.  Students whos native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in English by achieving a minimum score of 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) which is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).  English proficiency may also be demonstrated by achieving a score of 109 on th ESL Language Test.  International transfer students must have their credentials evaluated by an independent evaluation agency.  In addition, international students must submit a Certification of Finances to enable the College to issue an I-20 form.

Admission interviews, while not usually required, is highly recommended.  The interview enables the applicant to receive further information about the College and enhances her admission credentials through the oral presentation of additional strengths or talents.  Applicants are also invited to take a tour of the campus and to visit classes.  Campus visits can be arranged through the Office of Admission at 1-800-933-5923.

The College utilizes a rolling admission system beginning November 1st.  A decision is usually reached within two weeks of the completion of an applicant's folder.  Students are encouraged to submit their admission credentials as early as possible and, if accepted, to enroll by May 1st.  Students accepted after May 1st should enroll as soon as possible.
