MASTER'S CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS

Post-master's study in a specialty area provides an opportunity for additional specialization. Registered nurses who hold a second professional degree in nursing may complete post-graduate work in nurse practitioner, palliative care, nurse education, and holistic nursing. These options provide related field knowledge and expertise to the advanced practice role of master's prepared nurses. Each post-master's certification program consists of both seminar and practicum experiences.

  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (31 credits)
  • Family Nurse Practitioner (31 credits)
  • Holistic Nursing (23 credits)
  • Palliative Care (18 credits)
  • Nursing Education (12 credits)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

In order to be considered for admission to the Post-Master's Certificate Program, please submit the following materials:

  • Completed Application Form and Non-Refundable Application Fee ($30.00)

  • Official Transcript from an ACCN or NLN accredited Master's Program in Nursing

  • Current Resume

  • Essay describing motivation for study and career goals

  • Personal interview (distance permitting)

  • Current New York State RN Licensure

  • Current Malpractice Insurance

  • Prerequisites for NP and CNS tracks:
    • Clinically focused Master's degree
    • Health Assessment course
    • Advanced Pathophysiology course (completed within the last ten years) OR Advanced Pathophysiology and Psychoneuroimmunology I and II)
