Advanced Certificate in School Building Leader

  1. A completed application form;
  2. Two letters of reference;
  3. A personal interview with the Assistant Dean;
  4. A writing sample done at the College of New Rochelle;
  5. Proof of immunization;
  6. Evidence of a bachelor’s degree.


In addition, students applying for admission to the program with a matriculated status must also provide the following:

  1. A resume from the candidate;
  2. Proof of a master’s degree from an accredited college or university;
  3. Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate schools previously attended. Student copies are not acceptable. A minimum graduate 3.0 GPA is required;
  4. Two completed recommendation forms submitted by school administrators, college professors or other persons who have direct knowledge of the student’s potential as a school leader and for success of the program. One recommendation must be from a school supervisor or administrator;
  5. A copy of a New York State professional or permanent teaching certificate or proof of eligibility;
  6. Evidence of a minimum of three year’s full time, paid, approved teaching and/or administrative and/or pupil personnel service experience serving pupils within grades PK-12;
  7. Application fee.


When the College has received all application materials, an appointment for the candidate to provide a writing sample will be arranged. This sample will identify those students who might benefit from assistance from The College of New Rochelle’s Learning Support Services, available at no cost to students admitted to the program.

Applicants who believe that all necessary documents have been submitted for matriculation in the certificate program should contact the Division of Education Office to verify that all required documents have been received.

All applicants must arrange for an interview with the Assistant Dean of the Division before formal acceptance.


Admission to Candidacy

Students must apply for admission to candidacy upon completion of their 12th credit toward the Advanced Certificate.
