Master of Science Degree in Communication Studies – 36

The information age has created a perennial “revolution in communication,” and an ongoing communication challenge in all segments of society. The Communication Studies Program focuses on this ever-evolving discipline, and trains communication specialists and other professionals for business and service organizations of private and public sectors. The program prepares individuals to assume leadership positions in corporate communications, public relations, organizational communication, advertising, and other media related professions. The curriculum blends theory and practice to provide and refine the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for effective management of communication.

Transfer of Credits
Students are permitted to transfer a maximum of six graduate credits in Communication Studies from other institutions with the approval of the Assistant Dean.
Admission
Matriculated Status
Students will be considered for admission to the program with matriculated status
after they provide the following to the Division Office:
- Complete Application form and fee;
- Official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate schools previously attended; a minimum of 3.0 grade point average (GPA) in a completed undergraduate or graduate degree program is required for matriculation; for information on GRE requirements, contact the Assistant Dean;
- Two completed recommendation letters from those who have direct knowledge of the student’s academic aptitude for academic study;
- Goals statement: a 300-word essay stating background and professional goals, and articulating how this program will assist in attaining goals;
- Completed Immunization Form;
- Interview with the Assistant Dean is required when the application file is complete;
- Writing sample, completed after the interview;
- Signed Statement of Academic Integrity
