About Us
The primary mission of Academic Computing is to serve as a training, consulting, and resource center to assist faculty in the integration of technology into the curriculum. The area offers research and assistance on instructional software and Web-based resources and advice on using them to enrich the teaching and learning experience. A variety of training opportunities are available for faculty and staff, including workshops, small group demonstration sessions, and individual assistance. The Faculty Resource Room is designed to serve as a primary location for in-service workshops and as a place where faculty and staff can experiment with new technology resources.

Academic Computing provides access to desktop computing in computer lab facilities and classrooms on the New Rochelle Campus. The area offers both Windows-based (PC) and Apple (Mac) Labs and assists in the management of specialized computing facilities on campus, including an Apple video editing lab, math and SPSS lab in the Science Building, and a photo lab in the Mooney Center.

Academic Computing also administers the College's ANGEL learning management system. Over 400 courses and 4,500 users rely on ANGEL for online access to academic resources and tools for communication and collaboration. Faculty who would like to activate an ANGEL course site for the current semester should contact a staff member. Students will find additional information about ANGEL on the ANGEL login page. Course rosters are automatically uploaded into ANGEL course sites, but students can also add themselves to an ANGEL course site through the Virtual Help Desk

As the evolution of technology continues to provide new challenges and opportunities within the academic community, Academic Computing keeps abreast of the potential for its use within the College and within higher education in general. The area takes a leadership role in evaluating new software and the critical technology developments that will enrich the academic experience and help fulfill the mission of the College.
