Communications Specialist
The College of New Rochelle seeks a high energy, creative, and enthusiastic individual with strong writing and editing skills for this part-time position, available immediately. In this position, you will contribute to the work of College Relations in supporting the College’s marketing objectives with particular emphasis on publicizing and promoting the College through media relations.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Researching, writing, and distributing publicity materials, including press releases, pitch letters, and media and photo opportunity alerts, to the media;
  • Responding to press inquiries;
  • Writing website news items and articles for College alumnae/i magazine;
  • Proofreading marketing materials and publications;
  • Planning photo shoots and maintaining photo server.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills and be highly organized, meticulous about detail, and demonstrate strong multitasking capabilities without sacrificing creativity and quality. The ability to be flexible and to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects and tasks is essential to this role.

The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field, at least two years professional work experience in communications, preferably in a non-profit or higher education setting, and demonstrated experience in producing a wide range of content, including press releases.  She/he will possess a solid knowledge of MS Office. Must be able to work 20 hours over a five-day work week and willing to work some weekend and evening hours as necessary. Photography and videotaping and video editing skills a plus.
