Director of Government Relations
General Summary of Position

The College of New Rochelle invites applications for the position of Director of Government Relations.  This full-time, professional staff level position is available immediately.

The Director of Government Relations oversees all government related activities of the College that pertain to legislation and funding.  S/he creates and manages government relations strategies consistent with the mission and goals of The College of New Rochelle. The Director serves as the point of contact to internal and external audiences by communicating regularly with governmental officials to inform them of the mission, achievements and needs of the College.  S/he also provides strategic government relations advice and assistance to administrators, faculty and staff.  The Director organizes and attends meetings or events involving government and community officials, providing materials for such meetings.  The Director tracks priority legislation and compliance issues.  The Director works with students to give them awareness of, and at times involvement in, legislative issues that directly affect them.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Director will have excellent writing and communications skills.  S/he must have demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.  A bachelor’s degree is required.  The candidate must have higher education or related experience and must have a record of demonstrated achievement in her/his field as well as the potential for future growth.  Experience with governmental offices on both the federal and state level is preferred.
