The College accepts some gifts-in-kind, which are items of personal property owned by an individual, corporation, foundation, or other entity that is given to the College for its ownership and use. Typical gifts-in-kind include works of art, books, equipment, computer software, or hosting events. Services may not be accepted as gifts-in-kind per IRS regulations,.
Although one might assume any gift-in-kind adds value to the College and enhances the quality of education, in fact, this is not always the case. For example, some gifts may require repair, routine maintenance, or special storage facilities, which the College may not be in a position to provide. The final decision regarding acceptance of all gifts-in-kind is made by the VP for Financial Affairs in consultation with the department or area of the College that will benefit from the gift.
Before making a gift-in-kind, please contact the Director of Annual Giving at 1-800-474-4232 to discuss the nature of the gift and its possible acceptance.
