SIX
CAMPUSES, FOUR SCHOOLS, A SINGLE COMMITMENT
TO STUDENTS
|
Today, this Catholic
College
for women, still animated
by the spirit of our founding Ursulines, serves almost 7,000
undergraduate and
graduate students in four schools on six campuses. Our faculty are
first and
foremost teachers, dedicated to the individual student. Through the
classical
partnership of teacher and learner, CNR faculty and students create a
vibrant
academic community that fosters critical thinking, vigorous dialogue
and a love
of learning.
In
the School of Arts
and Sciences, the value of single-sex liberal arts education for women
continues to be cherished, and the talents, ambitions, and intellects
of young
women are encouraged to their fullest. In all our schools and across
all our
campuses, even those that invite men to enroll, the College educates
students
to value the perspectives, experiences, ideas and leadership potential
of
women. The centrality of women remains a non-negotiable element of our
mission,
even—especially—as the College grows and evolves.
The Graduate
School,
built on the strength of our flagship liberal arts programs, offers
women and
men professional knowledge, practical skills and a personalized
educational
experience—always a hallmark of the College—carrying to the next level
CNR’s
commitment to service in education, art, communications and human
services.
As CNR
moves to become a leader in wellness education, the School
of Nursing will play a
vital role.
For almost thirty years, we have been graduating healthcare
professionals who
have not only superior clinical skills but the richly rounded liberal
arts
education they need to take their rightful places in healthcare
delivery,
management and policy-making. CNR’s nursing program in a liberal arts
context,
in conjunction with the new Wellness
Center,
will fill a potent need in a rapidly changing healthcare system
burdened with a
critical shortage of nurses.
CNR is a
leader in adult education, with six campuses for
non-traditional-age students attending the School
of New Resources. In
partnership
with faculty, each New Resources student creates an individualized
curriculum
that meets his or her educational goals. The School’s alumni go on to
graduate
study at prestigious universities and embark on successful and varied
careers.
The
Campaign, while focusing its capital investments on the New
Rochelle campus, benefits the School of New
Resources
in many ways that reflect the integral relationship between the main
and city
campuses, united by mission and technology. The Gill Library renovation
included an upgrade of technological delivery methods, so students at
our city
campuses have easy online access to the myriad resources at the main
library.
Similarly, School of New
Resources students will have access—both
through
interactive technologies and in their own wellness classrooms—to
education
modules and other wellness resources that will be offered at the Wellness
Center on
the New
Rochelle campus.
