REFINING OUR EDUCATIONAL
VISION
|
From its
inception, The College of New Rochelle has been
refining the model of higher education in America.
We were founded by the Ursuline Order in 1904 as the first Catholic
women’s
college in New York State,
and ensuring that women have full access to education has always been
central
to our mission. In 1969, we extended the advantage of a CNR education
to
working professionals seeking to advance their lives through the Graduate
School.
Acting
on the strong belief that learning is a lifelong
process as well as a community endeavor, the College expanded its
educational
model more than thirty years ago to include adult women and men
returning to
college through the School
of New Resources. And in
1976, the College brought its
dedication to liberal arts and commitment to women and men from all
walks of
life into another area of education, opening the School
of Nursing, which has
become a
leader in the profession.
We
are once again refining our educational vision, looking
to our strengths to create a new way of teaching and learning about
health and
wellness. Through the proposed Center for Wellness, The College of New
Rochelle
will reframe the approach to health and well-being, bring that
knowledge into
the community, and have a vital impact on the healthcare crisis in America.
In
our aim to transform both our students and the world in
which we live, the Wellness Center
and its interdisciplinary educational initiatives both advance and
capitalize
on The College of New Rochelle’s distinctive strengths.
The
College is poised at a moment of strength. Our
educational mission has never been more relevant, and support from
CNR’s
friends and family has never been greater. Therefore, this is the
ideal time for The Campaign for The College of
New Rochelle.
We
invite you to support the Wellness
Center,
to ensure a healthy future for the College and for the nation.
