CNR  Shares Coburn Memorial Home Gift

At an afternoon reception held on July 28 in the Castle on the Main Campus of CNR, the Board of Trustees of the Colburn Memorial Home donated the entire proceeds from the sale of its Clinton Avenue property in New Rochelle to nine area not-for-profit organizations. The College of New Rochelle Graduate School Gerontology Program was one of the major recipients, sharing funds from the sale of this former senior residence in New Rochelle, which is now being developed into a new townhome community.

President Sweeny accepted the gift from Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Colburn Home, Mary Jane Reddington ’45.

CNR and the Colburn Home have shared a mission of service to the community for almost 100 years.  In recent years, the Graduate School Gerontology Program, led by nationally-recognized scholar Dr. Kenneth Doka, and the Colburn Home have shared a commitment to the care and dignity of older persons in New Rochelle, a critically important partnership, as Westchester has one of the highest percentages of senior citizens in the nation.
