The students are all participants in a special Ursuline Schools Unite in Service program. This year, the young women delivered food they prepared and clothes they collected to the homeless in Manhattan, worked in gardens, and did office work in White Plains, all part of the Ursuline schools emphasis on service to the community.

The College Remembers

Sr. Estelle Ghidoni
It was with great sadness that President Sweeny informed the College Community of the passing of Sr. Estelle Ghidoni, OSU ’32 on June 26 at the Marian Residence in New Rochelle.  Sr. Estelle, who was also known as Mother Bonaventure, was 93 years old at the time of her death. A beloved faculty member, she began teaching in the College’s Biology Department in 1944 and remained there until her retirement in 1976.  In the years following her retirement from CNR, Sr. Estelle taught Environmental Botany at the New York Botanical Gardens, worked in ambulatory care at New Rochelle Medical Center (now Sound Shore Medical Center), and served as a Eucharistic Minister at the Bayberry Nursing Home in New Rochelle.
