34th Annual Strawberry
Festival
NEW ROCHELLE, NY, April 28, 2006 -- For a
fun-filled
day of outdoor activities appropriate for families of all ages,
Westchester
residents are invited to the 34th Annual Strawberry Festival at The
College of New Rochelle. It will take place on Sunday, May 7th, from 12
noon to 5 pm on Maura Lawn on
the College’s Main Campus in New Rochelle at 29 Castle Place.
(Rain location will be CNR’s Student
Campus Center.) Admission is free, but there
will be some
cost for food, refreshments and activities. Parking will be
available at Isaac Young
Middle School, as well as
on the streets surrounding CNR. For further information, please call

WWPR Power 105.1 and DJ
Whutevva will be providing the
musical entertainment for the afternoon in many genres including Pop,
Salsa and
R & B. Student performances will also be an added attraction for
the
afternoon. The Gospel Choir, Black Ice Step Team and Blue Angels
Cheerleaders
will wow the audience with their outstanding talents and CNR spirit.
The 34th Annual
Strawberry Festival will be an
exciting day for families, students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
Youth-oriented
activities include face painting, wax hand sculptures,
Moon Bounce House, and the Giant Slide. Food
and refreshments
for sale will include chocolate-covered strawberries, strawberry
smoothies,
strawberry shortcake, as well as hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers,
popcorn,
and more.
The Strawberry
Festival, which was introduced to CNR in
1973, is the single largest event organized entirely by the College’s
undergraduates. The concept of the Strawberry Festival originated in
the
mid-west during the 1890’s as an American festival celebrating the
ripening of
strawberries, the blooming of lilacs, and the coming of summer.
