NEW ROCHELLE, NY, May 23, 2006 -- The College of New Rochelle will host it 68th Annual Alumnae/i College Weekend at the Main Campus in New Rochelle from June 9-11.  Keynote speaker, Daniel P. Sulmasy, O.F.M., M.D., Ph.D., will address alumnae/i on Saturday, June 10, at 10:45 am on “What is an Ethicist?” 

Dr. Sulmasy, a Franciscan Friar, holds the Sisters of Charity Chair in Ethics at St. Vincent’s Hospital (Manhattan), and serves as Professor of Medicine and Director of the Bioethics Institute at New York Medical College.  Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Sulmasy served as Director of the Center for Clinical Bioethics and Senior Research Scholar of the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, at Georgetown University.  He is a member of the Board of Advisors of the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, and editor-in-chief of the journal Theoretical Medicine and Bioethics.CNR alumnae/i who have graduated in a year ending in a one or six, starting with the class of 1931, will spend the weekend attending various lectures, gatherings, and award ceremonies.  Scheduled events include:

* The Ursula Laurus, Angela Merici, and Women of Achievement Awards;

* Class of 1956 Golden Anniversary Cocktails and Reunion Dinner;

* Cooking class and demonstration at MacMenamin’s Bar Grill; and

* Festive BBQ Celebration and Dinner

The first Catholic college for women in New York State, The College of New Rochelle was founded in 1904 by the Ursuline Order.
