THE COLLEGE OF NEW ROCHELLE TO MARK
THANKSGIVING WITH “HUNGER BANQUET”
NEW ROCHELLE, NY, October 13, 2004 -- To
help dramatize the unequal distribution of resources and wealth in the
world, The College of New Rochelle’s (CNR) chapter of Pax Christi is
inviting the local community to help mark this year’s Thanksgiving
holiday with a Hunger Banquet on: Wednesday, November 10, 6:00 p.m. to
8:00 pm, 2nd Floor of the Student Campus Center at CNR’s Main Campus
Banquet attendees are encouraged to make free will offerings to help
defray banquet expenses and to benefit the “Midnight Runs.”
Non-perishable foods will be collected for distribution to local food
pantries.
“Despite the fact that the world currently produces enough food for
everyone, more than 840 million people are chronically hungry. People
who come to our Hunger Banquet won’t necessarily be feasting. We hope
they walk away with a greater understanding of the problems of global
hunger and poverty, and perhaps be motivated enough to do something
about it,” said Helen Wolf, Director of Campus Ministry at CNR.
To sign up for the Banquet, please call (914) 654-5357 by November 5.
