10th ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL WOMEN ARTISTS EXHIBITION
Event Spotlights Artistic Talent of Young Women Nationwide

ROCHELLE, NY, October 30, 2003 – The College of New Rochelle (CNR) is hosting
its 10th Annual High School Women Artists Exhibition at the Mooney Center
Exhibit Hall, located at the College’s main campus in New Rochelle, NY.
It was created to offer aspiring young female artists the opportunity to
showcase their two- and three-dimensional works. Featured works selected
from junior and senior high school female artists nationwide will be on
display from Sunday, November 2 through November 16. The exhibition
will culminate with an Awards Ceremony on Sunday, November 16, at 3:30
p.m. in Romita Auditorium followed by a reception. The gallery is
open weekdays from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. and on weekends from 12 noon - 5 p.m.
The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
The annual competition is sponsored by the College’s Office of External
Relations, Media & Photographic Services Department, and the Art Department
of the School of Arts & Sciences (SAS). High school art teachers
are responsible for the nomination of participating students. This year’s
competition drew 94 entries from high school students in 27 schools located
in Connecticut, Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and New York.
All participants compete with their peers for awards of merit and gift
certificates from Art Warehouse (CT) and Golden Artist Colors Inc. (New
Berlin, NY). Interested participants will also be considered for
art scholarships ranging from $1,000-$5,000 per year toward tuition upon
enrollment in the Art Department at the School of Arts & Sciences.
The Art Department offers programs in Studio Art, Art Education, Art History,
and Art Therapy.

The first Catholic college for women in New York State, The College
of New Rochelle was founded in 1904 by the Ursuline Order. Today, it comprises
the all-women School of Arts & Sciences, and three schools which admit
women and men: the School of New Resources (for adult learners), the School
of Nursing and the Graduate School. The main campus of the College
is located in lower Westchester County, 16 miles north of New York City.
