THE COLLEGE OF NEW ROCHELLE APPOINTS
SADDIE L. SMITH TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES

NEW ROCHELLE, NY, November 12, 2007 – The College of New Rochelle (CNR) has announced the appointment of Saddie L. Smith of Cortland Manor, NY, to the College’s Board of Trustees. Smith will serve a three-year term.

“The wise counsel and generous support that our trustees give this College play a key role in this institution’s success,” says Dr. Stephen J. Sweeny, President of CNR. “Generously, the trustees hold in their hands the well-being of this vital institution. With the appointment of Saddie Smith to an already talented and committed Board, we are in very good hands indeed.”

Smith is corporate secretary for Consolidated Edison, Inc. and corporate secretary and associate general counsel for its largest subsidiary, Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc.  As such, she is responsible for corporate compliance and oversight on fiscal and business matters, board and shareholder relationships, documentation and reporting and development of the companies’ corporate structure. Prior to her appointment as secretary, Smith was vice president of Con Edison’s Staten Island operations. She has also served Con Edison as director of facilities management and office services, director of EEO affairs and senior attorney in the company’s law department. Before joining Con Edison, Smith was with the law firms of Muoge, Rose, Guthrie & Alexander in New York and Jenner & Block in Chicago.

She has been recognized as one of the “25 Influential Black Women in Business” by The Network Journal, is a recipient of the YMCA’s “Black Achievers in Industry” and Con Edison’s “Living Our Values” awards.

Smith holds degrees from Bowdoin College and Columbia University School of Law.
