Maria Migliorato has been a registered nurse for 28 years, and a New York Mets fan for even longer. So when her Political Nursing course at The College of New Rochelle called for a project to bring positive attention to the profession, her favorite team came to mind.

Migliorato contacted the Mets' director for community relations, and on August 20, the team hosted Nurses Appreciation Night at Citi Field in Queens. In addition to a special discount, the first 100 to purchase tickets were promised a Mets scrub top. More than 250 took up the offer, and all received the souvenir, Migliorato said. "Best of all, the Mets brough home a win for the nurses, 5-3."

The Queens resident, who expects to receive her bachelor's in nursing in 2015, received a Spirit Award from the Mets before the game, along with several other nurses.
