School of New Resources Announces a New Addiction Counseling Certificate Program

NEW ROCHELLE, NY January 6, 2014 – The College of New Rochelle School of New Resources announces that it will offer a new CASAC Training Program (Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling).

The program includes training hours and preparation for CASAC-T certification required for people to work as counselors with clients who have alcohol, drug abuse, nicotine dependence, and compulsive gambling addictions. The Program is targeted for undergraduate students seeking to work in mental health programs, school prevention programs, correctional services, and private practice, as well as for professionals such as social workers, psychologists, mental health practitioners, health care providers, and prevention specialists who seek addiction counseling training.

Beginning in the spring 2014 semester, CASAC-T certification classes will be held at the main campus in New Rochelle as well as the city campuses in Brooklyn, Co-op City, South Bronx and Harlem.  The program will provide students with a strong theoretical foundation, as well as practical training in substance use disorders (SUD) that can open doors to career advancement in human services and health care industries.

Interested students can attend open houses at each of The College of New Rochelle School of New Resources six campuses, located in Westchester, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan on Saturday, January 11 (11a.m.-2 p.m.), and Monday, April 12 (6 p.m. – 8 p.m.).  For more general information about the program please contact one of the SNR campuses.
