School of New Resources Holds Hooding Ceremonies


The School of New Resources held traditional hooding ceremonies for all six campuses over the past week, honoring the achievements of students who will be taking part in the 107th Commencement on May 28.

Each ceremony featured greetings from each campus director; Darryl E. Jones, Dean of the School of New Resources; Dorothy Escribano, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs; President Judith Huntington.

The ceremony at the Brooklyn Campus, held Wednesday, May 14, featured a poetry recital by Ryan Stephenson '14. The student remarks were delivered by Anthony McFadden '14, while Anne Pelak '90, Director of Financial Aid, offered the alumnae/i salute.

Pelak also gave the salute at the Rosa Parks Campus ceremony on Thursday, May 15, where Clarence Roundtree '14 delivered the student remarks.

The New Rochelle Campus held its hooding ceremony on Friday, May 16. Student remarks were delivered by Kevin Gibbs '14, and Rosa Puleo Napoleon '75, president of the Alumnae/i Association, gave the alumnae/i salute. Tara Fitzgibbon '14 performed a poetry interlude.

Jacqueline Babsky '14 spoke for the students at the hooding ceremony of the John Cardinal O'Connor Campus in the South Bronx, held Saturday, May 17. Julie Vargas Larino '77 gave the alumnae/i salute.

The DC-37 Campus in Manhattan held its hooding ceremony Monday, May 19, with student remarks by Lisandra Perez '14 and an alumnae/i salute from Larino. Also addressing the students were Lillian Roberts, Executive Director of District Council 37, and Barbara Kairson, District Council 37's Education Fund Administrator.

Charlotte Freeman '14 delivered the student remarks at the Co-op City Campus ceremony on Tuesday, May 20. Napoleone once again gave the alumnae/i salute.

The ceremonies were all followed by receptions.
