Longtime Faculty Member Dr. Barbara McManus SAS'64 Honored with Award

MediaLibrary#5324Dr. Barbara F. McManus SAS’64, who spent more than 30 years on the School of Arts & Sciences faculty, was the first recipient of an award presented in her name by the Classical Association of the Atlantic States.

The award was given on October 15, 2011 at a function honoring her in Hunt Valley, MD. Future recipients of the Barbara F. McManus Leadership Award will demonstrate a commitment to the core activities of McManus’ career as a teacher and scholar, including her advocacy for the equity of women, incorporation of emerging technologies, and employment of gender and social difference in the analysis of the ancient world and the American classical tradition.

The School of Arts & Sciences hosted a reception in her honor on December 6, 2011, which was attended by her husband John, daughter Prentice, sister-in-law Dorothy McManus SAS’64, and over fifty guests, including many College faculty.
