Where are you from?
I am from New York City. I was born and
raised in the South Bronx, and I currently reside in the North Bronx.

Tell
us something about your family?
I come
from a large family. I have four sisters and an older brother. My
parents migrated from Puerto Rico to New York City 49 years ago and
have been married for 46 years. My family is very close and we support
each other; they have all supported my educational efforts.

Why
did you decide to go to college?
In 2001 I became certified as an
Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor by New York State. It was then
that I decided to further my education by attending The College of New
Rochelle and earn my bachelors degree. With my certification and my
degree, I knew I would have better employment opportunities.

Why
did you decide to attend The College of New Rochelle?
I decided on The College of New Rochelle
because they offer an excellent undergraduate program and many of my
colleagues and friends had attended and graduated from CNR. I knew it
was a good college, and it was close to home.

What
is the most challenging part about being a student today?
The most challenging
part is being an adult learner, managing all other responsibilities:
work, family, school, and being an entrepreneur. It takes a lot of
discipline and commitment on my part.

When
do you attend classes?
I go to
classes Monday through Wednesday, from 6 pm to 9:30 pm.

Do
you have any favorite teachers?
Yes I do. I have several favorite
teachers, and to name just two, I would mention Maureen Manelski and
John Dodd. But really all my teachers have been great.

What
has surprised you the most about CNR?
I guess it would be that there are very
few male students attending classes at the Rosa Parks Campus. Another
thing that has surprised me is that I am one of the few male students
with a GPA of 3.9.

When
do you expect to graduate?
My anticipated
graduation date is May 2006.
