"I did a college search through fastweb.com when I was in high school. I entered all of the attributes that I wanted in a college and The College of New Rochelle popped up in my research. I then wrote and asked for a viewbook and application and just fell in love with the campus, all the great gothic buildings. That’s one of the great things about CNR; it really looks like a college in England!  Somedays I think I’m living in a different country, not just Westchester."

Where are you from, Tanesha?

I’m from Brooklyn, NY and I have lived there all my life. Coming to live on campus here in New Rochelle is the first time I’ve lived away from New York City!

How did you hear about CNR?

I did a college search through fastweb.com when I was in high school. I entered all of the attributes that I wanted in a college and The College of New Rochelle popped up in my research. I then wrote and asked for a viewbook and application and just fell in love with the campus, all the great gothic buildings. That’s one of the great things about CNR; it really looks like a college in England!  Somedays I think I’m living in a different country, not just Westchester.

What other colleges did you consider and why did you pick CNR?

I looked at a lot of colleges and seriously considered both California University of Pennsylvania and Rowan University. I picked CNR because of the College’s great financial package that they offered me.

What is your major?

I’m studying Political Science and have a Business minor.

Tell us about some of your favorite professors.

I have some wonderful teachers, but I guess my favorite professor is Linda LoPresti. Linda is one of our business advisors. She is sweet and always willing to help, and she takes time outside of class to help me with my work.

What clubs or organizations are you involved with as a student?

Well, at the moment, I am corresponding secretary of The Black Student Union and last year I was recording secretary of the Junior Class.

Have you done any internships?

This fall I worked on New York Congresswomen Nita Lowey's  Reelection Campaign. It gave me hands on experience on how an actual political campaign is run. Next semester I will be doing a business internship at Universal Records in the Urban Promotion Department.

Do you have a job while you are a student?

I wanted to focus my full attention on my studies so  I don’t have an “off campus” job, but I’m lucky to have a work study job in the Office of Communications. I work with Media Relations and that is a lot of fun.

What do you plan to do after graduation?

Although I am not positive what I want to do after graduation, I am sure that whether I go into Political Scionce or Business, both of my internships will greatly help me out.
