Where are you from,
Bekki?
I'm from Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. It's a real small town just off
Cape Cod.

How
did you hear about The College of New Rochelle?
In my senior year of high school, CNR sent me a packet of information
and asked me to apply.

What
other colleges did you consider?
I applied to 13 schools when I was in high school. I really wanted to
end up in Boston, but after visiting The College of New Rochelle, I
changed my mind. I thought CNR was very friendly, beautiful, and I
especially liked that the School of Arts & Sciences was a women’s
college.

What
is your major, Bekki?
I'm an English major, and I’m getting certified in Education.

You
are also in the Honors Program? What are the requirements?
I was invited to apply to the Honors Program and filled out an
application form when I started at CNR as a freshmen. To graduate with
an honors diploma, an honors student must take at least eight honors
seminars, demonstrate leadership, and maintain a GPA of 3.5.

Are
the courses harder in the Honors Program?
No, they just have a different set up, mostly seminar classes, which
means more discussions, and fewer tests. The topics are really
interesting, and they're fun classes to go to.

Are
you able to get into New York City?
Oh, yes! Manhattan is only 30 minutes away on the train. And from the
campus it is a quick walk to the New Rochelle train station.

Do
you have a job on campus?
Yes, I do. I work at LSS (Learning Support Services) as a writing
tutor. I like it because it gives me a chance to work with older people
who worked really hard to go back to school, and they're always really
appreciative of any help I can give them.

Do
you play any varsity sports?
I was on the swimming team this year. It was really fun because CNR is
a small college and women who play sports are in high demand no matter
what level of skill. It was great to play team sports that aren’t that
competitive.

When
do you plan on graduating?
In May of 2007.

Finally,
what do you going to do after you graduate from The College of New
Rochelle?
I am going to be the best kindergarten teacher in the whole world!
