The Graduate School invites applications for a visiting full-time faculty member to teach in our Literacy Education (B-12) program beginning in the Fall 2010 semester. The Graduate School offers the Literacy Education program at our New Rochelle campus as well as our off-campus sites in Westchester and Rockland Counties. The faculty member will be required to teach at our off-campus sites. Qualified individuals should have, at a minimum, a doctoral degree in the field or ABD with relevant research and presentations. A minimum of three years experience as a K-12 classroom teacher is preferred. Expertise in curriculum development, reading comprehension, reading in the content areas, the writing process and research preferred. Responsibilities include: teaching three graduate courses each semester, advising and mentoring students, developing relationships with area schools, and participating in School and College-wide committees and service activities.
The Graduate School is one of four schools of the College and was founded in 1969 in response to the needs of working adults. We offer Master’s degree programs in the areas of Education, Human Services, and Art and Communication Studies, as well as certificates and advanced diplomas in selected professional areas. Classes are offered in late afternoons, early evenings, and on weekends. The College is located on a beautiful suburban campus 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan and is easily accessible by car or public transportation.
