Online Teaching and Learning Coordinator
This professional staff position is an exciting opportunity to facilitate the development of high quality online learning opportunities within the four schools of The College of New Rochelle. The Online Teaching and Learning Coordinator has the following responsibilities:

  • Research, analyze and support the implementation of online learning and the use of instructional technology in accord with the institutional Mission;
  • Collaborate with the director, deans, executive vice-president and the academic affairs area to support the development of policies and practices for online learning initiatives;
  • Serve as instructional designer, working in a consultant role with faculty to support the use of online resources, instructional units and collaborative learning activities;
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program focusing on best practices in online learning and assessment;
  • Develop faculty expertise in the use of the institution’s learning management system software (ANGEL) and in the integration of emerging technologies into the curriculum;
  • Plan and conduct online and hands-on faculty workshops in such areas as educational theories, educational technology, online learning strategies, and student support mechanisms;
  • Coordinate with information systems and other areas of the College to ensure that students in online courses have appropriate levels of support.
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in online learning pedagogies and able to foster the development of robust interactive and collaborative learning opportunities; and work collaboratively with staff to integrate technology into the curriculum through support of web-enhanced courses and the use of smart classrooms.  In addition, the candidate will provide limited online support for faculty and students in online courses during evening and weekend hours and have the flexibility to support current and evolving partnership programs hosted by the College.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology, or related field; one or more years’ experience working with learning management systems such as Blackboard, ANGEL or Moodle, or the equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.  S/he must have experience with the various technologies used in online learning including wikis, blogs and social media; demonstrated understanding of online learning theories and practical approaches to achieve them.

Preferences include a master’s degree in related field, higher education experience in managing ANGEL, Blackboard or similar LMS; experience designing courses for delivery in an asynchronous format, one or more years of experience working with faculty in a higher education setting; prior work with adult students and/or health related disciplines; college level teaching experience.
