SCIENCE AND MATH SOCIETY (SAMS)

Many biology majors join the Science and Math Society (SAMS). Activities sponsored by the members of this organization range from co-curricular to social.

Freshmen benefit from tutoring sessions arranged by some of the more advanced biology majors.

In December, SAMS members assist in planning and attend the annual Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Holiday Party, an event featuring karoke.

Over the past few years, SAMS organized a Used Book Drive to aid faculty and students at colleges in underdeveloped countries; trips to various places such as Six Flags for "Physics Day" and “Bodies: The Exhibition” at the South Street Seaport in New York City; and Alumnae Career Panels.

Dr. Lynn Petrullo is the faculty advisor to SAMS.

THE ROAD TO MEDICAL SCHOOL PANEL

In Spring 2006, SAMS organized “The Road to Medical School Panel.” Two CNR students, Cindy Bastien and Lacy Ann Landell, who were both accepted to medical school, presided at a Q&A session for underclassmen interested in pursuing a career in medicine.

ALUMNAE CAREER PANEL

In Spring 2005, SAMS organized a Career Panel featuring presentations from five alumnae: Kim Walsh, Tara Kistler, Ann Marie Regan, Sophie Em, and Michelle Roth.
