Established in 1980, the Castle Gallery, housed in historic Leland Castle on the main campus of The College of New Rochelle, is an art resource for the entire community. It serves school groups and art enthusiasts from throughout Westchester County with exhibits, lectures, and programs that cut across a variety of interests.
Shows have included contemporary fine art, applied design, fine craft, and material culture. The gallery presents three exhibits a year from September through June — all free and open to the public — and tours are available to schools and educational organizations.
Every two years, the Castle Gallery holds the Westchester Biennial. The showcase of work by emerging and established Westchester County artists began in 1998. Featured works are selected by notable jurors from outside the county.
The Castle Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. on weekends. The gallery can also be visited by appointment.
