The 98th Commencement Exercises of The College of New Rochelle (CNR) took place Thursday, May 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Radio City Music Hall.

Approximately 1,400 students graduated from the School of Arts & Sciences, School of Nursing, School of New Resources, and Graduate School.

"Since CNR was founded in 1904, our graduates have made valuable contributions throughout all segments of society,” said Stephen J. Sweeny, Ph.D., president of CNR.  “As we embark on our next 100 years of achievement, we are confident that this year's graduates will continue the fine tradition of service, integrity, and faith for which CNR graduates are known.”

The College conferred honorary degrees on Tim Russert, Senior Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief for NBC News; Maureen Orth, Special Correspondent for Vanity Fair; and the award-winning actress, Cicely Tyson.   The Commencement Address was given jointly by husband and wife, Tim Russert and Maureen Orth.

Maureen Orth congratulated the graduates and stressed the importance of service to others and finding the time to explore areas of personal growth.

Tim Russert gave personal examples of decency and common goodness from his own family, of the debt we owe to those who went before us, and to those to come.

Cicely Tyson also spoke after receiving her honorary degree. She told the graduates that now it is "their time, " and of the significance of making the most of what they have been given.
