Academic
Computing Services (ACS) offers a broad range of technology-related
services and resources at The College of New Rochelle. Working collaboratively
with the Gill Library, Media Services, and Learning Support Services,
the area supports the implementation of an institutional planning
priority -- the use of technology to enhance communication and collaboration
among members of the College community. ACS provides training and
consulting services, access to desktop computing, and the software
tools that students, faculty, and staff need to meet the challenges
of a highly technological world.

| |
| The
primary mission of Academic Computing Services is to serve as a training,
consulting, and resource center to assist faculty in the integration
of technology into the curriculum. ACS offers research and assistance
on instructional software and Web-based resources and advice on using
them to enrich the teaching and learning experience. A variety of
training opportunities are available for faculty and staff, including
small group demonstration sessions and a regular series of workshops
on popular software programs. The Faculty Resource Room is designed
to serve as a primary location for in-service workshops and as a place
where faculty and staff can experiment with new technology resources.
|
| |
| Academic
Computing Services also provides access to desktop computing for students
in all four Schools (School of Arts and Sciences, School of Nursing,
Graduate School, School of New Resources) in computer lab facilities
and classrooms at the New Rochelle campus. The area offers both Personal
Computer (PC) and Macintosh (Mac) Labs, and arranges faculty use of
the computer classrooms in the Helen and Peter Mooney Art and Educational
Technology Center. In addition, ACS provides laptops and boxlight
equipment loans to faculty for use with course materials and presentations. |

|
As the evolution
of technology continues to provide new challenges and opportunities
within the academic community, Academic Computing Services is responsible
for keeping abreast of the potential for its use within the College
and within higher education in general. We take a leadership role
in evaluating new software and the critical technology developments
that will enrich the academic experience and help fulfill the mission
of the College.
