Beginning in the Fall 2002 semester, The College of New Rochelle will
implement a Student Technology Assistant Program (STA) to train
undergraduate (SAS, SON, SNR) students to assist faculty in the use
of instructional technology
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Student Technology Assistant Program is designed to help the College
community use technology in the classroom. Academic Computing Services
(ACS) will recruit a select group of students to work with faculty
at the College. You will be based in the Faculty Resource Room (Mooney
Center Room 134) and should be available to work approximately 10
hours per week.
You will be trained to use a variety of software programs currently
in use at the College. You will help provide technology support and
will be given feedback on your technical expertise and your ability
to communicate clearly and interact effectively with faculty.
WHAT STUDENT TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANTS DO
- Software
Demonstrations: You will work with faculty who want to explore
specific instructional software, including Microsoft Word,
PowerPoint, Outlook, Macromedia Dreamweaver (web design)
and Internet Explorer.
- In-Class
Assistance: You will provide a limited amount of in-class
assistance. For example, You may assist in setting up equipment
or in the use of a laptop during class.
- Service
Areas: You may also assist in the operation of the Computer
Labs in the Mooney Center and provide assistance at the
Help Desk.
- Project
Assistance: Work with faculty and staff on projects such
as website development.

- Must
be a registered undergraduate student at The College of
New Rochelle, in one of the following schools: School of
Arts & Sciences, School of Nursing, School of New Resources
- Must
have 10 hours available per week to participate in Program
- Must
be comfortable using computers, computer software, and e-mail
