CIA World Factbook is the online version of the World Factbook published by the Central Intelligence Agency.

Old Farmers Almanac Since 1792, The Old Farmer's Almanac has published useful information for people in all walks of life: tide tables for those who live near the ocean; sunrise tables and planting charts for those who live on the farm; recipes for those who live in the kitchen, and forecasts for those who don't like the question of weather left up in the air.

Biography Center aims to index all the available biographies on the Web.

InfoPlease Biography Resources searches the contents of the InfoPlease database including encyclopedias, almanacs, and dictionaries for biographical information.

Internet Public Library: Biographies Resources  The Biography Section of the Internet Public Library providing links to biographical websites.

World Biographical Index   This database is based on the 7th CD-ROM edition of the World Biographical Index containing 2,8 million short biographical entries for eminent individuals who lived in North and South America, Western and Central Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania. This edition is also a compiled index to many biographical archives.

Bibliographic Format:  WALDO's CiteSite serves as an aid for students who need guidance citing electronic documents in their papers.

Bibliography Style Handbook from the Writer's Workshop "This handbook summarizes and illustrates the bibliographical formatting rules for three different citation styles: the American Psychological Association (APA) style, the new Modern Languages Association (MLA) style, and the old MLA style."

Citing Electronic Resources:   The Internet Public Library provides links to recommended electronic information citation guides.

Citation and Style Guides created and maintained by Concordia University Libraries. Covers APA, MLA, Turabian, Chicago, other citation guides and a section on "How to cite sources" (avoiding plagiarism), and Grammar Guides.

Biblioscape Express  is a free source that formats records in ACS, APA, and MLA style formats.  The website also offers Biblioscape, an enhanced fee-based product.
 

Citationmachine  was created by David Warlick of The Landmark Project in 2000 to assist researchers in the creation of bibliographic citations in MLA, APA, Chicago and Turabian styles.
 

Easybib  creates citations in "MLA format only" for free .  The Easybib website also provides a monthly subscription option for an enhanced product that formats in MLA and APA styles.
 
Ottobib  is a free source that formats "books only" into APA, MLA or Turabian styles.  It uses the item's ISBN to locate the information and also provides a picture of the cover of the book with a link to the item in Amazon.com.
 
Source Aid Citation Builder is a free source that allows the creation of bibliographic citations in MLA, APA, Chicago, and Council of Science Editors styles.  The website also offers Citation Builder Pro, a fee-based product that has additional features such as the option to create footnotes and endnotes.

The Writing Center UWM : Citing References in Your Paper is an online handbook produced by the University of Wisconsin - Madison to assist researchers in the production of bibliographic citations in the styles of ASPA, APA, Chicago, Turabian, CBE and MLA.

 

 

 

Allwords.com A dictionary with all definitions in English, but the ability to search for a word in English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, and Spanish. Additionally, there is pronunciation file for each English word.

Acronym finder The Acronym Finder (AF) is a world wide web (WWW) searchable database of common acronyms about computers, technology, and telecommunications, with an emphasis on Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force, Army, and Navy acronyms.

Cambridge Dictionary Online consists of Cambridge International Dictionary of English, Cambridge Learner's Dictionary, Cambridge Dictionary of American English, Cambridge International Dictionary of Idioms,Cambridge International Dictionary of Phrasal Verbs.

Dictionaries: Yahoo's  The Search Engines subject division of Dictionaries: word entries, pronunciations, illustrations, and etymology.

OneLook Dictionary is a search engine that looks for up to 3218618 words in 733 online dictionaries now indexed.

Roget's Thesaurus Third Edition. Contains 35,000 synonyms and over 250,000 cross-references in an easy-to-use format, this thesaurus features succinct word definitions and an innovative hyperlinked category index.

Webopedia an online dictionary and search engine for computer and Internet technology definitions.

The Electronic Map Library The Electronic Map Library includes a series of atlases currently being produced by individual authors or project groups. The site is compiled and maintained by the Department of Geography at the University of California at Northridge.

CNR Selected Internet Resources: Statistics

Current Population Survey (CPS) is a monthly survey of about 50,000 households conducted by the Bureau of the Census for the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The survey has been conducted for more than 50 years.

Geo Hive Global Statistics - deals with statistics on the human population. The main kind of data you can find here is on the population of regions, countries, provinces and cities. Next to that there are some statistics on economic factors like wealth, infrastructure and more.

U.S. Bureau of the Census   The mission of the Bureau of the Census is to be the preeminent collector and provider of timely, relevant, and quality data about the people and economy of the United States.
