INTRODUCING JSTOR – The Scholarly Journal Archive

Gill Library is pleased to introduce JSTOR - a trusted archive of important scholarly journals.  The JSTOR archive holds the complete digitized back runs of core scholarly journals, starting with the very first issues, some dating as far back as the 1600s. New titles and disciplines are being added regularly. Issues of journals are never “out”; they are always accessible, and in excellent condition. The capacity for searching across disciplines opens up vast possibilities for scholarship and research

JSTOR’s archive includes an embargo period, or “moving wall,” which is a fixed period of time, in most cases ranging from 2 to 5 years.  This defines the gap between the first recently published issue of any journal and the date of the most recent issue available in JSTOR.  Several publishers do provide links to the recent content on their own websites, and you can search the article citations using the JTOR search engine.  If Gill Library has access to these other sources, you can go directly to the articles by clicking “Link to Article” on JSTOR’s search result screens.

JSTOR offers both multidisciplinary and discipline-specific collections.
