The Ursuline
Collection consists of over 500 volumes
relating to the origins and development in
Europe and America of the Ursuline Order
(Congregation of St. Ursula found in 1535),
biographical studies of leading women in the
Order, and works about educational institutions
for women established by Ursulines in the United
States and elsewhere. The Collection, the only
one of its kind held by an academic library in
the United States, contains numerous rare
volumes and includes works in French, German,
Italian, Spanish and Polish, as well as in
English. Numerous titles date from before the
French Revolution.
The
Collection is housed in the College Archives and
is accessible to qualified researchers by
appointment only. Appointments must be made in
advance (914-654-5349).
