art therapy

The Art Department offers a pre-professional program in art therapy. This is a combined art and psychology program, focused on intensive training for women who want to bring the healing, nurturing qualities of art to help adults and children in need. In schools, hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and in other public and private institutions dedicated to the crucial part of health care, the art therapist brings the joy of artistic activity to the relief of the physically, mentally, and emotionally challenged. In this program, the Art Therapy Major is provided with foundation studies in Studio Art and extensive training in psychology to prepare for graduate work as an art therapist. This important State-approved BS program can lead to professional registration as an art therapist once the student receives a Master's degree.
