
Dr. Susan Canning, Professor of Art History

Professor
Canning received her doctorate from Penn State. Her research focuses
on the 19th century Belgian avant-garde. Currently she is writing
a book on James Ensor. Dr. Canning also writes on contemporary art
for several art journals and as a curator has organized shows in
New York City and at the Castle Gallery of the College of new Rochelle.
Professor Canning teaches courses in art history including survey
and advanced courses in 19th and 20th century art. She also teaches
in the Liberal Arts Core curriculum, in Womens Studies and in the
Honors Program. |
Professor
de Gennaro received an M.F.A. in Art from Stanford University and
an M.A. in Aesthetic Studies from the University of Texas, Dallas.
She has worked in a variety of media and formats over the course
of her career, most recently including painting, drawing, and installation.
Professor de Gennaro has exhibited her work in museums and galleries
nationally including A.I.R. Gallery (New York, NY), ARC Gallery
(Chicago, IL), Nexus Contemporary Art Center (Atlanta, GA), the
Portland Art Museum (Portland, OR), the Dallas Museum of Art (Dallas,
TX), San Antonio Museum of Art (San Antonio, TX), Southern Exposure
Gallery (San Francisco, CA), The Women's Building (Los Angeles,
CA), and the Center on Contemporary Art (Seattle, WA). She has received
grants from national and state institutions including the National
Endowment for the Arts. Also, she has been the recipient of artist
residency fellowships including the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation
(Taos, NM), the Fundacion Valparaiso (Almeria, Spain), the Constance
Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts (Ithaca, NY), the Oregon College
of Art and Craft (Portland, OR), and the Jentel Foundation (Banner,
WY). In 2003 she was a Visiting Artist at the American Academy in
Rome (Rome, Italy).
Professor de Gennaro is presently an Associate Professor of Art
at CNR, teaching all levels of painting and drawing, the Freshman

Dr. William
Maxwell, Professor of Art

William
C. Maxwell received his Doctorate and three Masters degrees from Columbia
University, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wagner College. He
has exhibited at Bernice Steinbaum Gallery, the Elizabeth Weiner Gallery,
Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Modern Art and many other exhibition
spaces nationally and internationally. His paintings, prints
and drawings are in many private and public collections. He
is a recepient of several awards and grants. His work has been
reviewed in numerous art publications and other media.
His book, PRINTMAKING: A BEGINNING HANDBOOK (Prentice-Hall), is a
widely used text in institutions of education and art throughout United
States. He is co-owner, with his wife Dana DeVito who is also an artist/teacher,
of Maxwell Fine Arts gallery in the Artist District of Peekskill,
New York. He maintains studios in New York City and in Peekskill.
Max teaches Drawing, Painting, Printmaking and Seminar in the Art
Department, and is an active participant in the Honors Program.
He has been teaching at The College of New Rochelle for the past 30

Margie
Neuhaus received her M.F.A. from Bard College, and a B.F.A. from
Carnegie Mellon University. She has exhibited at Socrates Sculpture
Park, Long Island City, NY; P.S.122, New York, NY; Convergence XI,
Providence, RI; Art/Omi, Ghent, NY; Islip Art Museum, East Islip,
NY; Franconia Sculpture Park, Shafer, MN; N 3 Gallery, Im n Il Gallery,
and Sideshow Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; and Stone Quarry Hill Art Park,
Cazenovia, NY. She is also the recipient of several grants, including:
a Funded Residency from Sculpture Space, Utica, NY; an Emerging
Artist Fellowship Residency from Socrates Sculpture Park, Long Island
City, NY; a Fellowship Residency from Vermont Studio Colony, Johnson,
VT; and a residency from Ragdale Foundation, Lake Forest, IL.
Margie teaches Design Foundations 2 and 3, Fundamentals of Drawing,
Freshman Art Colloquia and all levels of sculpture, including Fiber
Sculpture and Intro to Metalwork.

Emily
Stern, Associate Professor of Art

Emily
Stern received a BA in Art from Yale University and an
MFA in Graphic Design from Indiana University. She is
a graphic designer and studio artist. She is currently
exhibiting a series of drawings in "Horror
Vacui" at McKenzie
Fine Art in Chelsea, NYC. She has shown her work at
PS 122 Gallery in NYC, and Rotunda Gallery and Im in Il
Gallery in Brooklyn. Her work can also be seen at Pierogi
Gallery and Kentler International Drawing Space in Brooklyn
NY. Her work is included in national and international
collections, including the Indiana University Fine Arts
Library, and the Marino Golinelli Collection.
