Here is a practice test for Test 2.
Please try this test before next class, as we will go over it then.

There is a homework assignment posted on sections 12.5 and 12.6. It is to be done by Wednesday, April 16 (the day of the test.)
This material may be on the test, so I recommend you do the assignment before Tuesday.
Test 2 will take place in class on Wednesday, April 16.
Yesterday, I handed out the Statistics Project, which is due March 31 at the beginning of class.
To allow you more time to work on it, there will not be any homework due the week after spring break.
Also note that Tuesday, March 25 follows a Monday Schedule. Hence, we will have class on March 25.
There will be no homework or quiz this week. We will resume our normal homework/quiz schedule next week.
Here are the answers to the problems from the practice test that we did not get to today:
7(a) Average Daily Balance = $391.42.
7(b) New Balance on February 1 = $275.87.
Here is a practice test for Test 1.
In addition, I have posted a practice test for each section on CourseCompass. These should serve as a source of extra problems and will not be graded.
Test 1 will take place on Wednesday, February 27.
The first homework assignment on section 11.4 (installment buying) is now posted on CourseCompass.
Note that parts C and D of exercise 11.4.20 are Extra Credit.
They are on the rule of 78s, which we did not cover in class.
According to this
article in a recent New York Times, pawn shops are thriving in New York City.
Using the simple interest formula, you can determine the annual
interest rates of the loans mentioned in the article.
For example, a person taking out a $100 pawn loan, would have to pay back $119 in four months. What annual rate of interest is this?
Homework for sections 11.2 and 11.3 is now posted online.
Reminder: Our first quiz will take place on Wednesday, January 30.
Focus the Nation will be taking place
on campus this Wednesday and Thursday. All students are encouraged to participate.
