GRADING

The Social Work Program is developed around adult learning principles. We assume that students will be active participants in their learning, and that they will draw upon their life experiences to enrich the academic content of class and field. Preparation for professional practice further requires that students not only master theoretical material, but that they also begin the processes of self-discovery and self-awareness that are essential for competent social work professionals. The development and refinement of writing skills is also critical in this process.

Because participation in your own learning is basic to developing the knowledge, values, and skills of the entry-level professional generalist social worker, grading will include your class attendance and your class participation.

Social Work majors must attain a grade of "C" or higher in all required social work courses and an overall grade point average of 2.0.
