Courses in this area are also of interest to students who wish to better understand the impact of gender on social and cultural beliefs, societal institutions and functioning, and historical events.

The Women’s Studies Program includes not only academic courses but also special events, lecture and film series, and activities designed to heighten awareness of women’s issues and the accomplishments of women in diverse fields, including the arts, music and theater, natural and social sciences, language and literature, and philosophy. The Program strives to highlight women’s concerns and to promote dialogue on timely topics of concern to women.
