CAMPUS TRANSPORTATION POLICIES
Campus transportation is available for use by faculty, staff and student
organizations for College Related Functions. There are three
vehicles, a 15-person van, a 7-passenger Explorer and a 5-passenger Edge. They are assigned on a
first-come-first-served basis. The reservation forms may be picked up at the
Security Office, and dropped off Monday through Friday between 8am and 4pm
ONLY. Reservations can only be approved by a Security Staff Assistant
or the Director, and a
reservation should not be considered approved until either written or verbal
confirmation is received.
- Requests must be made on the Reservation form ONLY. Telephone
requests will not be taken. You may check a vehicle's availability by phone,
but the vehicle will not be held for you until a form is received.
- All student requests must be signed by a staff member of the Student
Development Office. The appropriate signature must be obtained
prior to turning the form in to Security.
- To request to drive any College Vehicle, you must provide a valid driver's
license and a copy of your driving record which can be obtained from the DMV.
This information is submitted to the College's insurance carrier to confirm
that you may become a designated driver. After this is confirmed the request may be approved unless there are other
extenuating circumstances.
- Only a College Faculty or Staff member can drive the College van. A
person can apply for designated driver status by filing an application.
Applications and a list of designated drivers are available in the Security
Office. The following criteria will be used for review of each application: 1)
Employee of institution, 2) Driver's license for 5 years, and/or special
license.
- Due to campus needs, overnight use of the vehicles is restricted.
For trips of two days or more, a Vice-President must approve the reservation
before it is turned in to Security. At the conclusion of the overnight trip,
the vehicle must be washed before it is returned.
- A faculty or staff member must accompany students whenever:
1) The College van is used, 2) On ALL overnights trips, 3) Any
trip over 100 miles.
- All reservation forms must be signed by a supervisor who will take
responsibility should there be any problems while on the trip. A phone number
for this supervisor will be included when the form is submitted for approval.
- When picking up the College vehicle, the driver will submit an updated
list of passengers and the name of the person on the trip designated as being
responsible for the group. This will then be attached to the reservation form.
- Drivers are responsible for ALL tolls, traffic tickets, fuel,
etc. All drivers are responsible to have checked the OIL,
WATER AND GAS in the vehicle prior to going out.
- If a College vehicle is involved in an accident, the driver must obtain
all information from the other driver(s) involved and file a report with the
Safety/Security Office upon return. Copies of the College's Accident Report
form are in the glove compartment of each vehicle.
- College Vehicles are to be returned in a clean condition to the
Security Booth on Castle Place. After the vehicle is checked at the Booth it
is the driver's responsibility to return it to the designated location.
Failure to comply with these policies may result in loss
of vehicle privileges!!
