Institutional

SYSTEMS & REFERENCE LIBRARIAN

The Systems/Reference Librarian will report directly to the Dean of The College of New Rochelle Mother Irene Gill Memorial Library.  H/She will be responsible for research and recommendation, implementation, and evaluation of current and future library systems.   H/She will provide technical expertise and support, administration, management, and training on library technologies to ensure seamless access to library services and resources, participate and/or chair relevant library and college-wide committees, participate in reference and research program, and participate in the development, approval, review, revision, establishment and promotion of library information literacy programs. 

 

Systems Responsibilities

  1. Research, implement, maintain, assess and evaluate for current and future library systems.
  2. Provide training, guidance and support on current and future library systems to staff, faculty, and students.
  3. Provide first-line support on all library systems and collaborate with library vendors to ensure smooth operation of all library systems.
  4. Administer, maintain, and support all modules of the Library' Integrated Library System: III Millennium, and Discovery Platform. 
  5. Liaison with Campus departments to ensure smooth operation of library systems, software, servers, and modules.
  6. Manage the Library's Web presence using Springshare Libguides (all modules) and other Library web and file servers
  7. Select, install, troubleshoot, and manage library systems' server and client software (ILLiad, EZ Proxy, E-Resources, OCLC hosted and LDAP interface).
  8. Implementation and maintenance of Ebscohost's EDS Platform.
  9. Management and administration of OCLC ILLiad, automated Interlibrary Loan system including ILLiad's Staff Manager, Configuration Manager, and ILLiad Client Version 8.
  10. Familiarity with Canvas Learning Management System and ability to create and share course templates for Information Literacy programs, classes, courses.
  11. Administration and participation in OCLC Questionpoint Ask Us 24/7 Chat system.
  12. Coordinate and manage online automated information literacy modules such as Credo’s or Proquest information literacy modules.
  13. Be aware of library technology best practices in order to lead the library in future decision making.

Reference Responsibilities

  1. Create, develop, provide and evaluate reference service using print and electronic information sources to users in person and remotely.
  2. Serve as liaison to one of the schools of the College to establish cooperative efforts and one-on-one communication with faculty
  3. Create, develop, provide and evaluate training and instruction to students, faculty and staff in the effective use of electronic and print information resources using the library’s technology
  4. Promote library services to the College community including meeting with faculty to develop and refine library-based assignments, create and give presentations, and develop and provide orientations
  5. Participate actively in activities such as developing tutorials and online publications; provide individual appointments for library research via in person and remotely; perform collection development tasks; evaluate and make recommendations concerning the selection and implementation of new technologies to enhance reference services and library instruction.

 

Required Qualifications

  • A Master of Science in Library Science from an ALA accredited program
  • Evidence of ability to articulate a systems perspective for a multi-library campus and effectively implement a collaboratively developed vision for search, discovery, and delivery of services
  • Demonstrated understanding of client/server environment and experience with software applications needed to administer application environments (i.e. Microsoft Windows Server, UNIX/Linux, Oracle/SQL Server, XML, etc.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member, and through Committee work.
  • Analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency with one or more scripting languages and coding HTML/CSS (advanced programming skills desired).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Academic library experience managing systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience supporting library systems and electronic resources
  • At least two years of experience working and supporting and/or migrating to an integrated library system in an academic library setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with and supporting library specific software, e.g. OCLC , OCLC Discovery Services, ILLIAD, Library specific software and hardware.
  • Web site management; familiarity with Springshare and Web platforms.
  • Experience in managing, implementing or integrating discovery platforms.
  • Familiarity with EZProxy and LDAP authentication services.

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

The College of New Rochelle seeks an innovative and experienced content creator and strategist to advance the College’s brand identity, enhance its reputation, and increase online engagement with both internal and external audiences through the use of social media.  The social media manager will develop and lead the College’s social media strategy, content, and channels, while tracking analytics and keeping abreast of current social media trends and platform changes.

In addition to implementing the social media calendar, the social media manager will respond to the day’s immediate demands, including direct engagement with constituents and regular moderation of social media channels. As this is not meant to be a desk job, the social media manager will network in person with campus stakeholders, including students, student groups, faculty, staff, and alumni and attend multiple events each week to capture engaging written and visual content for digital and social media channels.

As the primary representative of the College on social media platforms, this position requires both digital and marketing savvy, highly refined writing and communication skills, good news judgment, critical thinking and analytical skills, creative flair, a solid understanding of the College’s brand and audiences, a full recognition that social media extends beyond normal work hours, and at all times professionalism and integrity.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan, create and share engaging and college-appropriate content daily across institutional social and digital media channels, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and the College’s website.
  • Capture video and photos to support online content. 
  • Develop, implement and update the College’s overall social media strategy and social media calendars to grow engagement.
  • Assess and refine institutional social media policies to ensure best practices.
  • Provide training for administrators managing departmental social media channels on social media policies and industry best practices and monitor departmental accounts to ensure compliance. 
  • Conceptualize and execute innovative social content campaigns to drive awareness of the College and coordinate with PR efforts.
  • Engage with students, student groups, faculty, staff and alumni and attend multiple events weekly to generate story ideas and capture written and visual content for digital and social media channels.
  • Regularly monitor social media channels to drive strategic direction and proactively address conversations or issues relevant to the College. Some of this monitoring may occur during evening and weekends.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest in social media trends and platforms with an eye toward incorporating new ideas and emerging platforms that will further advance the College.
  • Gather and present analytics and utilize findings to refine social media strategy and social media calendar as well as specific social media campaigns.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, new media, journalism or related field.
  • Three to five years of professional experience in both creating engaging content across a variety of social media channels and managing a social media calendar with clear benchmarks and demonstrable achievements. Higher education experience preferred.
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills with evidence of good storytelling ability utilizing digital platforms with the versatility to engage multiple audiences as evidenced by  strong writing samples.
  • Experience with photography, videography, video editing, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, CSS, and SEO.

DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SUCCESS COMMUNITIES

The College of New Rochelle (CNR) seeks applications from dynamic candidates who are compassionate, student oriented and empathetic to college student concerns, for this full-time professional staff position which is available immediately.  CNR seeks applicants who have knowledge of, and experience with, practical applications of student development theories to fill grant-funded positions designed to aid in student retention and persistence to graduation.  Successful candidates will have multicultural competence, an understanding of adult students, and will be able to develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff and students.  Specifically, the successful candidates will be asked to:

  • Function as part of a student success team, leading and sharing responsibility with other Student Success Directors across the institution to provide holistic, proactive support for first time students;
  • Prepare and present Orientation programs to new students to expose them to the array of available resources, as well as College policies and procedures that govern their experience;
  • Meet regularly with students, monitor student progress, design individualized support plans for assigned students, implement strategies to help students overcome difficulties;
  • Manage multiple projects discerning priorities with meticulous attention to detail;
  • Manage and maintain student records through a database system and in hard copy as needed, including the timely processing and completion of reports;

Qualified applicants will possess a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Social Work, Education (or related field) and a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a college or counseling setting.  They will have a strong commitment to working with diverse student populations and understand student development theories as they inform college student perceptions, behavior and competencies.  Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills are necessary, as well as problem-solving and resolution skills.  Personal computing skills are essential to this role and include skill in creating and editing documents, spreadsheets and reports; exporting/importing data from/to different software applications; and data collection and retrieval.  Must have experience with maintaining moderately complex databases and experience with Internet search engines for data gathering purposes.  Some evening and weekend work are expected and occasional travel will be required between CNR campuses located in the NYC metropolitan area and the main campus in New Rochelle.

STUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES COORDINATOR

Responsibilities:

The College of New Rochelle is seeking a motivated individual with excellent customer service skills to assist the Office of Enrollment Services (Bursar, Financial Aid, and Registrar) as a front-office staff coordinator. The candidate must have excellent customer-centric skills, s/he must be a problem-solver, and must have extensive technology experience. The coordinator must be trainable and tech-savvy to learn CNR’s computer systems (Banner, TouchNet, and various campus system that integrate with the Office of Enrollment Services). This position is part of a frontline team who will be cross-trained in all aspects of Registration, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Aid. The frontline team is tasked in providing accurate, friendly, and efficient services to students, College staff, and parents. This position requires leadership skills to supervise student workers. And the candidate is responsible for processing payments, refunding, system troubleshooting, report generation, collections resolution, and answer all forms of inquiries (in-person, phone, and email). The Coordinator works closely with the College Bursar and various departments on campus.

ADJUNCT REFERENCE LIBRARIAN

The Gill Library at The College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, NY is seeking a service oriented individual to fill the position of Adjunct Librarian, to work part time (18 evening hours/week) at our New Rochelle campus.  Reporting to the Access Services Librarian and the Dean, the candidate will work closely with Learning Commons and Library Staff to provide direct public service and student assistance in the Library and Learning Commons. S/he must be well versed in all computer applications used in the Library, and troubleshoots problems encountered by Library users. S/he supports the Librarians and provides assistance to all users.      

Responsibilities include:

  • Reference Services (in person including assistance with all print and electronic resources and services as well as virtual reference using AskUs 24/7) to students in all schools of the College
  • Conduct library instruction sessions and Workshops as needed
  • Contribute to the creation of, and update libraryguides in various subjects as needed
  • In the absence of other administrators or full-time librarians, the Adjunct Librarian is responsible for the overall supervision of Library operations and the Library building including supervision of staff and student assistants.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

The College of New Rochelle seeks a Senior Accountant who, under minimal supervision, will assist with month-end closings, the annual audit process, prepare reconciliations of general ledger accounts, and help maintain the integrity of the College’s general ledger, financial reports and internal controls.  The Senior Accountant will also prepare financial reports and audit support work papers for federal grants, and contribute as a team member to the Controller’s Office operations, including risk management, purchasing, accounts receivables, accounts payable and payroll.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and record account journal entries.  Research, respond to, and resolve general ledger account inquiries from budget supervisors.
  • Reconcile and balance general ledger and subsidiary accounts.  Perform monthly analysis of various general ledger accounts to ensure that account balances are recorded properly, making corrections on a timely basis.
  • Maintain the general ledger system, including establishing new GL accounts, opening and closing fiscal periods in the system, and other tasks. 
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Coordinate preparation for annual financial audits with Controller. Compile information and prepare schedules for the year-end audits.  Assist with the preparation of year-end work papers, financial statements, and footnotes.
  • Compile information and assist in the preparation of the annual 990 tax-return work papers.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement policies and procedures to improve customer service and ensure the effectiveness of all internal controls and operations.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of external regulatory reporting requirements, including 1099s, 1099Ks, 1098-Ts and 1042s.
  • Provide back-up support to the Controller as needed.
  • Participate in special projects.
  • Perform professional and administrative duties assigned, as appropriate, by the Controller in addition to the delineated responsibilities.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field from an accredited institution required (M.B.A. preferred), and 2 years professional experience (higher education setting preferred) or any combination of relevant education and experience;
  • Knowledge of financial accounting systems and other technical accounting skills;
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Excel (v-lookups and pivot tables), Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office. 
  • Proficiency in Banner and ARGOS report writer a must.       
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a shared services model.
  • Work experience either as an auditor or an accountant for a non-profit organization preferred.

This is a full-time, salaried position.  Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.

E-COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER/ALUMNAE/I COORDINATOR

Position Summary:  As an integral part the College Advancement team, the primary function is to manage the day-to-day communications responsibilities for the office. This includes responsibility for creating clear, easy-to-navigate, informative, well designed, and highly functional e-communications as well as disseminating institutional news and events, overseeing event promotion, maintaining website content, managing social media presence, and responding to incoming communications requests. This position will spend approximately 60% of his/her time on E-communications and 40% on alumnae/i relations activities.

Responsibilities

 E-Communications

  • Development and implement an e-communications plan for the alumnae/i website, social media and e-mail. 
  • Manage and develop content for all e-mail marketing e-communications, create e-mail templates, manage distribution of electronic newsletters.
  • Maintain current content on the alumnae/i website through iModules platform.
  • Utilize iModules for deployment of e-mail and e-communications to promote the College’s advancement goals, news and events to encourage Alumnae/i engagement.
  • Responsible for customer service, analysis of metrics, production of reports and providing recommendations based on information gathered.
  • Ensure data integrity with Raiser’s Edge and work with iMoudules for upgrades/installation of new modules and/or re-design as needed.
  •  Remain current on trends and best practices in e-communications and solicitations.
  • Serve as liaison to Director of College Relations for the compilation and distribution of College related news and information to Alumnae/i through social media, website updates and e-communication.
Alumnae/i Coordinator
  • Cultivate, engage and reconnect with distinctive groups of alumnae/i through focused and targeted programming.
  • Assist in designing activities and coordinating events to increase visibility of all alumnae/i related activities particularly the Alumnae/i Board in connection with programming and recruitment subcommittees in addition Alumnae/i College activities.
  • Represent College Advancement and Alumnae/i Relations at on and off campus programming.

ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF COMPOSITION AND DIRECTOR OF THE WRITING CENTER (ONE-YEAR APPOINTMENT)

The College of New Rochelle invites applications for a full-time, one-year appointment in composition within the English Department at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning September 2018. This individual will also serve as Director of the Writing Center. The successful candidate will teach 12 credit hours per year in composition; coordinate the School of Arts and Sciences writing program (instruction and assessment); consult on planning and assessment of writing activities with each of the other three schools of the College; and oversee writing tutorial services under the supervision of the Dean of the Library.

 

Minimum Job Requirements

  1. A Ph.D. or terminal degree in composition, rhetoric or closely related area.
  2. A strong record of undergraduate teaching, including diverse student populations.

CLINICAL PLACEMENT COORDINATOR

The Clinical Placement Coordinator (CPC) in the School of Nursing & Healthcare Professions is in charge of coordinating all clinical placements, undergraduate and graduate, in the School of Nursing & Healthcare Professions. The CPC reports to the Associate Dean and will work with multiple clinical sites to coordinate student clinical placements at both the undergraduate and graduate level, including year-round Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) placements in coordination with the Track Coordinator for the FNP program.  The position is a full-time 12-month professional staff appointment.  The successful candidate will be a registered nurse with strong interpersonal, marketing, recruitment, and administrative skills. However, a non-RN with experience directly in this role will be considered. The ability to work with spreadsheets, including Excel, and detail-orientation is necessary. Higher education or hospital-based clinical education or equivalent experience is desired. The CPC will serve on the Professional/Administrative team of the School.

REPORTS TO:  Associate Dean

OVERALL JOB REQUIREMENTS

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate the negotiation and placement of nursing students in some 89+healthcare agencies with whom the College has contracts, including new sites procured by the Assistant Dean.
  • Collaborates with agency staff as well as CNR administration and staff to maintain currency in all contractual agreements
  • Identifies potential adjunct professors for clinical and lab teaching placements
  • Performs or coordinates the intake process for all new clinical adjuncts
  • Maintains an electronic database of the approved adjunct clinical faculty and preceptors by clinical specialty
  • Maintains an electronic database of the approved clinical agencies in Coordination with the Director of Operations.
  • Identifies potential student learning experiences in clinical/practicum sites
  • Interacts with clinical agencies to plan for and schedule student group clinical or individual senior clinical practicum preceptor rotations
  • Works in consultation with the Master’s Track coordinators to place all master’s clinical or field practice preceptors and agencies.
  • Attends required meetings at clinical affiliation agencies
  • Attends community professional meetings and recruitment job fairs that would help maximize our clinical adjunct faculty pool and clinical agency placement activities, occasionally on regular off hours or weekends (limited).
  • In collaboration with the respective Clinical Course Coordinators, schedules and notifies clinical adjunct faculty regarding the clinical orientations for each student clinical group each semester
  • Oversees the completion of pre-clinical orientation documents for all students entering the clinical year
  • Works with staff to maintains clinical clearance records on students and clinical faculty and submits them to clinical agencies, including BLS, and first aid (adult and pediatric) verification,  health clearances, background checks, resumes, fit mask testing, and clinical training modules that may be required, including non-health documents  required based on specific hospital/agency assignment
  • Prepares clinical clearance permission letters for students
  • Maintains all files related to clinical assignments
  • Collaborates Clinical Course Coordinators to evaluate clinical sites
  • Schedules orientation sessions and meetings with and serves as a resource and support person for clinical adjunct faculty
  • Provides input into the evaluation process of clinical adjunct instructors/preceptors
  • Works with the (hiring) Program Assistant to manage the new clinical adjunct hiring process in collaboration with Human Resources 
  • In collaboration with Assistant Dean, manages student clinical placement issues as appropriate
  • Works with the Assistant Dean and Dean to maintain and modernize clinical adjunct appointments
  • Duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Valid and active RN license in New York (if RN)
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered nurse preferred
  • Current knowledge of nursing practice at the registered nurse level preferred

CLINICAL SIMULATION COORDINATOR

Job Description: Coordinates day-to-day activities and services of the LRCN, which includes scheduling and conducting clinical simulations, lab set up, lab break down, and management of lab equipment and supplies.

Reports to: Director of LRCN

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinates daily activities and services of the LRCN labs, including scheduling and conducting clinical simulations, lab set up, lab break down, and management of lab equipment and supplies.
  • Assists instructors and/or students in a clinical lab setting.
  •  Ensures that the lab/classroom is clean, safe, and organized; promotes safe lab practices. (i.e.) washing sheets.
  •  Repairs or coordinates the repair of lab equipment as required.
  • Coordinates the ordering and re-supply of consumable lab equipment; conducts end of semester equipment inventories.
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends new lab materials, equipment, and experiments.
  •  Implements simulation activities as required.
  •  Establishes and updates laboratory policies and procedures.
  •  Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports.
  • Updates the Nursing Skills Lab website.
  •  Prepares reports as needed for nursing learning lab.

Required Work Experience

  •  Two years related work experience.

Preferred Work Experience

  •  Work experience managing a medical skills learning lab. Recent medical surgical experience.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing. Experience cannot be substituted for education.

Special Requirements

  • RN License New York State
  • Clinical Simulation Certification preferred

Physical Requirements

  •  Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment.
  •  Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.

Dean H. Michael Dreher of the School of Nursing & Healthcare Professions (SNH) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty or non-tenure track position in Pediatrics/Child/Adolescent Health available September, 1, 2017.  Previous undergraduate teaching and simulation experience are highly desired and the ability to serve as Course Chair and Clinical Coordinator of Pediatrics is required.  Candidates must be eligible for licensure as an RN in New York, and doctoral preparation or significant progress toward the doctorate is desired, but not required. The School of New Resources seeks adjunct faculty for its NYC and New Rochelle campuses.  The School offers a BA degree in the Liberal Arts to adult learners.  We have six campuses:  New Rochelle, Coop City and the John Cardinal O’Connor campuses in the Bronx, the Rosa Parks Campus in Harlem, and at Restoration Plaza in Brooklyn.

We are seeking instructors in all areas of the Liberal Arts:  English Composition, Developmental Writing, the Humanities, Communication, Mathematics, History/Philosophy of Science, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Literature, American Studies, Psychology (especially CASAC certified), Sociology and the social sciences, general Liberal Arts Studies, Urban Studies, etc.  We are also seeking instructors in some professional areas, including Health Care Administration, Labor Studies, and Criminal Justice.

Our classes meet once per week and are offered in the morning (generally 10am – 2pm) and evening (6 – 10pm.)
