At The College of New Rochelle, we believe that the lessons, interactions, and experiences students gain during study abroad form an integral part of a modern, multidimensional liberal arts education. All students are encouraged to take advantage of study abroad opportunities, which contribute to the development of a rich understanding and appreciation for other cultures, languages, and perspectives. During their time abroad, students gain academic credit as well as invaluable life experience, developing leadership skills, self-confidence and independence, and heightened cultural sensitivity that will serve them well in our increasingly interconnected world.
We have also found that employers interviewing graduating students tend to gravitate towards students who can demonstrate maturity, initiative, and creativity, qualities that are fostered through the study abroad experience.
In order to make study abroad available to the widest selection of students possible, study abroad opportunities include the two-week Bridging Cultures program as well as summer, semester and yearlong programs. Scholarships that sover up to 50 percent of the costs are available.
To qualify for study abroad, students must have a cumulative index of 2.7 and the recommendation of their department chairperson or advisor.
