Residence Director (Part-time)

The College of New Rochelle invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Residence Director.  This part-time professional staff position is available for spring 2013, and is a twelve-month, live-in position. The Residence Director will provide supervision and support to undergraduate and graduate resident students, primarily during nights and weekends.  Each residence hall houses 70-125 students and the Residence Director is supported by and supervises 2-5 Resident Assistants.  Reporting to the Residence Life Coordinator of Student Development, the position involves primary responsibility for all matters in the residence halls related to: promoting a rich community experience, provision of co-curricular and extracurricular programming, implementing strategies to enhance retention, monitoring facility needs and participation in judicial affairs.  The RD must demonstrate a student-centered philosophy that encourages personal growth and development and still be able to develop relationships with students that foster trust and understanding. In addition, the Residence Directors share responsibility for on-call duty rotation during evenings, nights and weekends and supervise and train RAs and student staff. All of these responsibilities will be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the College’s mission and the Student Services Division commitment to create living and learning environments that foster respect for self and others, and to encourage holistic growth within the context of community so that each student may develop fully as productive members of society.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of relevant experience working with young adults.  S/he will have excellent communication and presentation skills, strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), be detail-oriented, flexible, and enjoy working independently as well as part of a team.  A valid NYS driver’s license and a good driving record is required.

Compensation includes room and full meal plan, a bi-weekly stipend, and generous vacation.
