Steven Shaw is a creative writer in the Department of English and Director of the Writing Center at The College of New Rochelle. His current projects include three separate full-length young adult novels, one of which is currently on submission to major publishing houses. His research interests include queer literature, social justice, gender studies, the importance of diversity in academia, and superheroes in graphic novels and their effects on the “American Dream” narrative. Steven is a current member of: The Consortium of High Education LGBT Resource Professionals, the Civil and Human Rights Committee at NYSUT, The Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and the Society for Contemporary Literature. He’s also a CRLA certified tutor and an ordained minister.
His courses include WRT 101: Writer’s Workshop, WRT 102: Critical Research Essay, Creative Writing, and Graphic Novel. He’s also the faculty advisor of Spectrum and Phoenix at CNR.
